Evangelina had been in New Haven since April of the year and she still wasn't used to the fact that she was dead. She had been slowly changing, becoming better at socializing with people but even now she didn't really have any friends. When people asked what she died of she was rather embarrassed to say that she died of AIDS, as far as she knew she was the only one in New Haven that had.
Vani was laying in her bed looking up at her ceiling that was illuminated with Christmas Lights. She wondered how her mother and father were dealing with their first Christmas with her gone. Would she ever see them again? She found that she missed them both very much. She wondered where Ire was, was the baby in New Haven or was he somewhere else. Christmas would be a lonely one for her, she had bought her cat Skitty some presents. Her cat found the catnip mouse wrapped in wrapping paper and Vani could hear the bells jingling from the toy, she let out a breath and sat up. Oh Skitty. I can't stay cooped up here tonight. Its too sad. She pulled out her phone and checked the times for the Christmas movie festival. The next showing for A Muppets Christmas Carol was playing at nine o'clock, Vani looked at the clock and saw she had about 45 minutes to get to the movie theaters.
She hopped off her bed and walked past the kitty who was scampering around playfully. She went to her bath room and threw some make up on, she did her hair and then went to the closet and threw on a cute purple dress and some black leggings along with her black boots. She grabbed her jacket and walked out of her apartment, she locked the door and walked towards the movies which was only about 3 blocks away from her apartment.
She arrived at the movie theater with five minutes to spare, she walked to the ticket booth and said, Hello. Can I have one for the Muppet Christmas Carol for nine o'clock please? She paid for the ticket and walked into the theater, she went to the consession stand and got a large popcorn and a medium soda, she was turning when all of a sudden she bumped into someone spilling popcorn and soda all over the place. OH! I...I...I'm so sorry. She stuttered.

  Adrienne sat in her room looking out the window, watching the waves crash on the beach. She was bored out of her mind and she needed to get out. Since she had arrived at New Haven she hadn't really done much. Sure it was a big deal when she realised she was dead, but to learn that your mother ended your life. That was fucked up. The reason why Adrienne had gone through all that pain and suffering was so she could be with her family for longer. Standing up, Adrienne pulled on her clothes and headed out. She had heard that Muppets Christmas carol was playing at the AMC 20, so she thought she may aswell go there. The muppets were funny and she could use a good cheering up.
When Adrienne arrived there, the theater was packed. When Adrienne got to the till she ordered her ticket, popcorn and a drink. As she turned to walk away she bumped into someone, who's drink and popcorn went everywhere. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see you sta.......Vani?" Said Adrienne looking up at the girl. Adrienne had met Evangelina in hospital. Both of them were very ill, both dying and they had become close friends, maybe even best friends but they were unable to make their friendship stronger because of, well no need to say why really. "Evangelina are you really here?" She said more to herself than the girl who had just dropped popcorn and soda everywhere.

Vani looked up and saw Adrienne and her mouth dropped. Adri? She blinked as if she were to open her eyes her friend would be gone. I..I..Yes! I am really here! She couldn't believe that her best friend, whom she had gotten to know really well last year was here in New Haven and she hadn't seen her up until now. I knew you had passed on but I didn't know you were like really here! I came here in A[r She ignored the spilled soda and popcorn and hugged Adrienne.
When Evangelina was sick she had been sent to numerous hospitals and finally was settled down in the same hospice/hospital that Adrienne was in. They were put in the same room and soon became fast friends. I've thought about you for a long time, I missed you. She pulled back and looked at her friend, she had her hair again, Evangelina had seen her go through chemo and such things as soon as Adrienne was considered "terminal" Evangelina cried her eyes out because her friend was moved and the bed remained empty.
I'm sorry that they pulled the plug on you so to speak. I know your sister was really really upset. She came to see me a few times. She said looking at Adrienne with a sincere look on her face. Evangelina remembered her sister coming in and talking to her and remembered sitting with the girl for hours just talking. Adrienne's mother didn't approve thinking that Evangelina was riff raff due to the fact that she had AIDS but she was thankful that Scarlett didn't mind it. Evangelina wondered about Scarlett sometimes too but she was so relieved to see Adrienne here. You look beautiful. Looks like New Haven really does work miracles huh? She asked with a giggle.
She looked down at her soda and popcorn and said, Damn. I'm gonna get some more. What movie are you here to see? She asked as she turned around and ordered again. When she gathered her new popcorn she slowly turned around and smiled.

The smile grew on Adrienne's face as Evangeline recognised her. There was popcorn all over the floor around them as well as a slight puddle of drink. One of the employees didn't look to impressed when he had to begin sweeping up the popcorn, but Adrienne ignored him. It wasn't like Evangeline had done it deliberately, plus it was his job as well. Evangeline then pulled Adrienne into a big hug. Adrienne smiled and wrapped her arms around her long lost best friend. There was a time when really it was only Evangeline who got her through the day. Both of them were suffering from terminal illnesses, so they had that in common to help push each other to hold on for longer. It was sad that Evangeline had died, but up here she looked amazing and looked happy. Like she wasn't suffering now more and neither was Adrienne. As a matter of fact she felt great, physically. It was just the emotional side of accepting the fact that your dead.
"Yeah I thought about you alot to. You were an amazing friend to me back when we were in and out of the hospice. To be honest I don't think I would have held on for so long if it wasn't for you." Said Adrienne holding her friends hands and smiling happily. The guy who had been sweeping the popcorn up had disappeared and the floor was now clean. Adrienne walked back over to the counter with Evangeline as she ordered her popcorn and drink again. Adrienne would have shared hers, but Evangeline had already bought her sweets before she could ask. Adrienne's eyebrow raised slightly when Evageline began to apologise about them pulling the plug. It appeared that she didn't know she was technically murdered. "Ummm they didn't turn the machine off. My mother injected me with something to stop my heart. I heard the conversation when they thought I was unconscious. I didn't think my family would give up on me like that. I knew I wasn't going to get any better but I wanted to go in my own time. I told them that and made them promise they wouldn't do meany favors." Said Adrienne trailing off. It still annoyed her talking about it.
Again, Adrienne smiled when Evageline complimented her. "Yeah, you don't think the bald look looks good on me?" Said Adrienne and then laughed. "Thank you, you look beautiful yourself. I barely recognised you when we bumped into each other." Said Adrienne remembering those days back in the hospital, both of them looked terrible if she was honest with herself. "Well I'm here to see a really grown up and mature film ofcourse. Muppets Christmas Carol. You?" She asked grinning and Evangeline.

Vani looked at her friend and with tears in her eyes she smiled,I know if I hadn't of had you or Matt...I probably would have given up too. She wiped her eyes, she had thought about Matt a lot since she had died but knew that he wouldn't be coming here, she was happy that at least one of her friends had found New Haven.
She paused when Adrienne told her what actually happened. Wow. Maybe that's why your sister seemed so choked up about it. I'm sorry Adri. I know your family was one of the only things that was pushing you forward. She hugged her friend again with one arm. I think if my mom could have done what yours did, she would have. In a way she kind of did. She stopped coming to visit me towards the end. My dad came to visit, my adopted one not the real one. I even got a letter from my rapist's daughter...but my mom...I guess she couldn't deal with the fact that she failed as a mother. She sipped her soda and shrugged. She had accepted that her mother didn't want to see her before she died and all Vani wanted was to see Matthew one last time.
She was brought back to attention when Adrienne cracked a joke about her hair. Nah I thought you were pretty bald but it definitely didn't do you justice. She grinned and sipped her soda again. She wasn't going to live in the past anymore, Matthew would get older, meet someone young and healthy and grow old with her and have lots of babies and Vani would be here in New Haven with her best friend and maybe she'd find a love of her own. Its amazing when you don't have a virus beating your body up, you actually look like a living breathing person. She smiled. She was just getting her confidence back, her Reaper Rowa was amazing and helped her out a lot more than anyone else she could think of.
She chuckled and said, Me too actually. A very grown up movie indeed. I haven't seen this movie since I was like ten. She gestured to the theater, Shall we then? She began walking and asked, So how have you been in New Haven? Who's your reaper?

Adrienne smiled when Evangeline mentioned Matthew. They were a right trio, but Adrienne always thought that perhaps there was something going on between Evangeline and Matthew. Evangeline had never told her if there was something, it was just in the way they looked at each other and smiled to each other. Adrienne would have loved it if they had of gotten together, they would have been such a cute couple. "Oh yes, Matt. I remember him. I miss him aswell. Although you probably miss him more than I miss him." Teased Adrienne, giving Evangeline a playful nudge.
Adrienne popped some popcorn into her mouth as Evangeline tried to get Adrienne to see the positive side of her mother killing her. Ok, so maybe she could understand the reasons as to why her mother did what she did, but it still hurt. "Yeah I guess I can see why she did it, but it still sucks though. I guess I'm more surprised than anything." Said Adrienne resting her head on Evangeline's shoulder when she put one arm around her. "It's so weird how people deal with death." Said Adrienne as she listened to Evangeline speak. Both of them had had a hard time in hospital and it was really Evangeline and Matthew who had helped her cope. Her family were a big help aswell, but having a friend who was sick like how she was was a huge help.
Adrienne flipped her hair back and laughed as Evangline complimented her. She was actually enjoying living in New Haven. Having a chance to do stuff she couldn't when she was alive. As a matter of fact she was more alive now than what she was when she was actually living. "I know right. We can now do all the things we wanted to do when we were alive. Even if it means going to the theater and seeing a old film." Said Adrienne laughing a little. They entered the screen they were supposed to be in and took their seats. Once they were comfortable Evangeline asked Adrienne how she had settled in and such. "Yeah I'm really liking New Haven. I haven't got a reaper. Should I have one?" She asked a little confused.

Evangelina flushed and giggled, Yes well. Ahem. I do miss him, a lot. I just hope he is doing well. In the real world… She looked at Adrienne and then down at the ground. He was a great guy. She put some popcorn in her mouth and sipped on her soda. I just feel like if I was healthy I don’t think I would have ever met him and if I did…I wouldn’t know if I would have a chance with him. He was well just gorgeous… She coughed and changed the subject. So do you have anyone special in your sights?
Evangelina nodded and said, It is weird how people deal with death, some people ignore it, others just push on through it. If they knew that there was an afterlife to be in…I wonder if anyone would be trying to die to get here. She was happy that Adrienne was with her, I’m glad that I am not alone here anymore. I mean my Reaper Rowa is awesome but he’s like over a thousand years old. Really cute but really old. She giggled and sipped her soda.
Evangelina smiled and said, We could even go for a hike or a horse ride now and no nurses yelling at us for leaving our room. She rested her head on her friends head and said, I’m happy for an old movie and popcorn with a great friend. She looked at Adrienne and said, Yeah I think everyone needs a reaper, where are you staying? I am staying with my reaper but I also have an apartment. She smiled and sipped her soda. Gosh I haven’t seen this moving in forever.
