General Description: At first glance, nobody would ever tell that Miss Madison struggles with depression and self loathing. She's such a sweetheart that puts everyone before herself. She volunteers her time to help the less fortunate, donates to causes in which the proceeds actually go to help those who are in need, always has a smile on her face, is a bit hyper-active, and is known for making those around her smile and have fun. She's the type of overly bubbly girl that almost seems annoying at times. However, at the same time, Maddi is very insecure. She does not see herself in a very positive light, though she tries to. Madison tries hard to be what those around her want her to be to the point that there are times where she almost forgets who she is. She tries really hard to stay strong, though her depression and insecurities tend to make that highly difficult.

Overview: Madison was the eldest of two girls born to her parents. She always tried her best to impress them and be that perfect daughter that they all wanted her to be, even when she was little. She wore the outfits that Mommy picked out for her and always got so upset if she accidentally got it dirty. She was Daddy's little princess. Things changed, though, after Leah was born. Madison was often compared to how perfect and adorable little Leah was. She never felt that her accomplishments were ever really acknowledged as Leah got the spotlight. It was heartbreaking to her. As she got older, though, she learned to push aside her personal issues with a smile and a laugh, being her silly self that made others smile. Nobody outside her family knew she was depressed, and that was only because in her sophomore year, she had a breakdown at a family reunion. She ended up having a panic attack, and a doctor friend of her parents suggested she see a child therapist. She was put on mild anti-depressants, and she tried hard to keep that she was on them a secret.
The only one who knew was her best friend, Caitlyn. There wasn't anything that Maddi did not tell Caitlyn, though she did try to keep some of her negative feelings to herself. After all, Cait was perfect; and, even her parents had made some careless comments about wishing that Madison could be more like her at times. So, she kept the fact that Caitlyn herself was a trigger for Maddi's self hate to herself. Caitlyn need not know what all triggered her into self-harm. That was something she intended to never let the other teen know. Of course, it all grew worse after Caitlyn's accident. On top of it all, Mad was without her best friend.
That made everything that much harder. Her self-harm became that much worse, and it was not long before Madison had herself wondering just why she was even alive. Her anti-depressants were not helping her suicidal thoughts, and she knew that she should probably tell someone about them, but instead, she bottled them down. To be honest, she could not tell what the actual fight that pushed her over that edge was. All she knew was that she had been completely home alone at the house. Nothing had been there to stop her and she was glad for it. Of course, when she came to, she found herself in a place called New Haven. It was different, and odd, but she guessed she could get used to it. All the while she was adjusting, she could not help but wonder, was Caitlyn there?
