[/style] TAGGED: kyrian WORDS: 0746 Madison was just getting used to life in New Haven. She had not been around for very long, enough that she was living on her own instead of with her Reaper. She was glad for that. Maddi had always been one to like her space. True, she was a very friendly girl; but, she liked to have space to herself. She liked her job well enough, but she was not all that fond of having to go to school. She could drop out if she really wanted to. However, that was not really an option. If she wanted to really prove herself, she needed to make it through college. That was going to be quite difficult; at least, she guessed so. One thing that had become a thing of habit, though, was that she (and a few co-workers) made their way to Dream On for some alcoholic drinks (for those over 21) or sodas and to have fun. It was something that Madi enjoyed greatly. She had such a stage fright, but something about doing karaoke in front of people never really bothered her. She did not really understand why, but did not question it too much. Madison was tired, and sore, after working a five hour shift after classes. It was almost time for winter break, and she would be picking up more work hours until classes resumed in January. It was a little odd to know that senior year was just around the corner. She felt much too old to still be in college, but maybe that was just the weight of everything she carried. Despite her silly side, though, she really was rather mature. It was an odd combination. Madison giggled softly at a joke Beau, one of her co-workers, said with a fond eye roll. She really did enjoy getting to hang out with them. "I'll be right back," Madi announced after they had been there for quite a while. She then got up and made her way over to the bar near the back of the room, where a few people sat drinking, not really paying attention to the woman singing some Pat Benatar song a bit too loudly and off key. If it was a club or a night where the audience paid the good singers (which made Maddi wonder if Dream On even did something like that), the woman on the stage would get booed away. She almost wanted to go up and help the poor woman, but somehow refrained. Instead, she just sat on one of the stools while waiting for the bartender to notice that someone else was there. "Hi, can I get a Pepsi?" she asked with a bright smile, not sure exactly what soft drinks the place provided. Despite being there once a week for the previous few weeks, Madison still could not remember what the place carried. Each business seemed to have a different variety, and she could never be fully sure.
Madi winced a little at the feedback from the mic as it was sat down and another group of four took the stage to attempt to sing some Britney Spears song. Madison smiled softly and glanced back over toward the man there behind the bar that evening. "How do you deal with the ones like this?" she asked, though her voice was not cruel sounding. It was more amused than anything. The group on stage was having fun, and wasn't that the important part of karaoke? "I think it would annoy me so much if I worked here." She flicked her hair out of her eyes as she grabbed her drinking, thanking the other patron of New Haven. She glanced off to the side when she noticed someone else heading toward the bar. It was a blond young man that she was pretty sure was the owner. She had never actually met him, but that was what Laura, one of her co-workers, had said. Whether or not it was true was another story. She had no idea what his name was or anything. He was cute, though. That, she had to give to him. Madison smiled at him as she brushed her hair back out of her eyes. She did not know the name of the bartender, either, if she was honest. She barely knew the names of her co-workers. It made her feel pretty much alone, and she was not all that fond of that. She wished Caitlyn was there with her.

The place was in the full swing of things. Now was probably their busiest time. The time when the kids were out of school and everyone else was off of work. Of course, Dream On usually attracted the younger crowd and the older crowd. Usually those who were in between would frequent Icon. There wasn't nearly enough loud music to dance to here at Dream On. And here, they offered things besides just alcoholic drinks or ginger ale and water. At Icon, those were the only non-alcoholic beverages they served. No, this was definitely more kid-friendly. Or teenage friendly, he supposed, since around this time, the Reapers would be keeping the young ones at home and in bed. It was Friday night, and that only increased the number of people. For the teenagers, it meant no school tomorrow so they could sleep in.
He checked his watch before nodding. It was about time that he went out onto the floor to see what was new. He smiled and greeted a few of the regulars, tilting his head slightly as he shook their hands before continuing across the room. He paused to look at the woman on stage and winced slightly at how off key she was and shook his head slightly. Oh well, he supposed that was the price he paid for having a karaoke bar. He walked then towards the bar, spotting his bartender getting a soda for an attractive brunette. And then there was a screeching sound and he turned his attention back to the stage to make sure that it was just the feedback and that no one had done something to the sound system and watched as another group got on and started singing Britney Spears. He shook his head again and reached the bar about that time.
Kyrian heard the girl's questions to the bartender and chuckled softly. He moved towards the bar then, slipping beneath the guard counter that restricted access and pulled out a pair of plugs from his pocket. "You learn to adapt, babe," he stated, setting them down on the bar in front of her. He smirked slightly as he leaned across the bar, tilting his head slightly. "You've been here before, haven't ya? I've seen you around." He smiled warmly and offered her his hand. "I'm Kyrian. Owner, founder... whatever," he stated, laughing simply as he straightened up, allowing the bartender access to the glasses he was standing in front of so that he could serve another customer before leaning forward again.
"What's your name?" he asked before he simply shifted away from the bar. "Hold that thought," he requested before he simply ducked out from behind the bar once more and moved to the stool beside of her. "Alright now I'm not in anybody's way," he stated with a smile at the bartender. He looked back at her. "I make it a habit to get to know my regulars... and I think I've seen you around enough to say that you're probably a regular." He gestured to the drink that she had. "Drinks are half-priced today for the ladies, so feel free to have whatever you want," he said simply, smiling at the female. Though if she was ordering soda, she probably wasn't of age to be drinking alcohol just yet.

[/style] TAGGED: kyrian WORDS: 0664 Madison took a drink of her soda and glanced over to the blond young man that had caught her attention moments before, smiling softly as he pulled out ear plugs and answered the question. She could not keep from flushing a little at being called "babe". She was sure it was a general pet name he tended to use often to customers while trying to seem charming or something. It would probably work if Madison did not believe it was just something he did. "Yeah, I have," Maddi replied with a nod and a smile, reaching out to take his offered hand. "I'm usually here every Friday with..." She gestured over toward the group of people she had gone there with, letting go of his hand to rest that arm on the bar. Her coworkers were all cheering and trying to get Sally to get up there. She was a good singer, Madison mused, though her focus was more on Kyrian than on the other group. Kyrian. She would have to try to remember his name; though, she was not quite sure how she could even forget it. He was really pretty to look at, and she was sure that now that she knew Kyrian's name, it would be impossible to forget. Madi opened her mouth to answer his question about her name, but paused when he told her to, and she absently wet her lips as he made his way around the bar to sit next to her. "Oh, uhm... I can't drink." She shook her head, wrinkling her nose a little. She was sure that if she really wanted to that someone would get her alcohol, but Madi was not fond of drinking. She did not like what it did to people. Plus, she was on anti-depressants, and she was pretty sure the two were not supposed to be mixed. She had enough issues as it was; spending time in the hospital because she was stupid enough to drink was not on the top of her to-do list. It took a few moments, in which Madison glanced up to the stage where Sally was singing some pop-rock song that Madison did not know herself (it seemed like a cool song, though), before Madison realized she had not answered his question with her name. "Oh! I almost forgot. I'm Madi... or, Madison, whichever, really," she answered with a soft laugh, tucking her hair back behind an ear. "Sorry, 'm kinda spacey. It's been a long day at work. Even here, people suck." Madison pulled a slight face as she nodded a little, knowing the truth behind her words. Despite where they were, people seemed to enjoy trashing the store. It never ceased to amaze Madison that even on the days that it was really slow, the customers seemed to keep at least one table completely destroyed. "It must be neat owning your own place like this. S'the headache from the bad ones worth it?" Madison smiled softly as she spoke, absently toying with her glass on the bar. She was a bit too tired to try to be her overly energetic self. Give her a couple sodas and maybe some candy and she would be good to go, though. Well, that or get her up on the stage. That was always a good way to get her energy up. She loved singing karaoke. It, oddly enough, did not trigger her stage fright. Get her on an actual stage, trying to do her own things, though, and she would panic. "Do you ever get up there?" she asked Kyrian, nodding over toward the stage where Sally was giggling and getting down to let someone else have a turn. "I think I'd have to every now and then. I love to sing." Of course, she felt that was rather obvious. Most people who came to a place for karaoke loved to sing. Now, whether or not they were good was a different story all together.

Was she embarassed by him calling her a pet name? Or perhaps it was just her being a little shy. Either way, it was just slightly adorable. He smiled at her, wondering how he could make that adorable blush come back again as she began speaking. He nodded when she stated that she had been there before. It made sense, he remembered her face. He'd seen her a time or two at least, he was sure. He looked back at the friends that she gestured towards and tilted his head. Every friday, hm? He smiled towards her once more, leaning back against the bar himself as he saw her do it while he sat beside of her. He still hadn't got her name though, and it frustrated him. Was she being coy on purpose? Or was that just part of her demeanor naturally?
He arched a brow as she stated that she couldn't drink. "Who said it was only alcoholic drinks who were half-priced for the ladies?" he asked, arching an eyebrow. "Anything you want," he gestured towards the bar itself. "Half-price on Friday for the ladies. Soda, alcohol, fruity drinks... hell, if you want, ask for virgin drinks and they're half-price too. I myself love a good virgin strawberry daqueri. The rum tends to have to much bite to it to offset the sweetness. I prefer it without the rum, myself." He smiled slightly at her, tilting his head slightly. "I don't drink a lot of alcohol myself anyway. I don't like the taste. So pretty much anything I make for myself doesn't have a lot of alcohol in it, if any. Like a Firefly? If I make it for myself, its a glass of lemonade with just a splash of vodka."
He smiled at her, tilting his head. So she wasn't 21, he hadn't thought she was, she looked like she might be eighteen or nineteen perhaps. He wasn't entirely sure. But she was exceptionally pretty. And it wasn't a compliment he gave lightly. Not at all. He watched her as she glanced towards the stage to see those who were taking the next challenge. He smiled, though, as she finally provided him with her name. "Madison. I like that. It suits you very well. A beautiful name for a perfectly adorable young woman," he stated before looking towards his bartender. "Tell you what... tonight, Madison's drinks are on the house," he stated before looking back towards her, smiling slightly. "Oh don't you worry your pretty little head about it, I know how stressing the work-day can be," he stated simply, waving her apology off.
He looked around as she said that it must be neat to own his own place. He smiled slightly and nodded. "Yeah, I like this place. And I love music. If I'd lived to see the end of my career in the military, I would have loved to go into the music industry. I was actually... in a band when I was in high school," he stated easily, looking back towards her. "And when I got to New Haven... there weren't much options for stuff like that. We even have an open mic night on Saturdays... where the karaoke machine is turned off and people can go up and play their original songs and stuff. It's really kind of cool," he stated easily, tilting his head slightly as he watched the staff. He then looked back over at her as she asked if he ever got up there. "I haven't in a long time, no," he stated, sounding a little sad about it.
He looked over at her and laughed as she stated that she'd have to every now and then. "Well why don't you go up there? Sing something for me," he urged, arching an eyebrow at her. "Come on, Maddi... it could be fun..." he teased, leaning in, eyes glinting playfully as he watched her, wondering if he actually could get her to go up there.

[/style] TAGGED: kyrian WORDS: 0799 "Oh," Madison said softly with a faint laugh. She guessed she had not really thought about it that way. Typically things about drink prices revolved around alcohol, so that was typically what she assumed. It was good to know for future reference, though. She smiled softly as she watched Kyrian while he explained that he did not really drink much alcohol himself. He really was cute. He seemed to have a slight formality to him that she could not quite place, but at the same time he seemed pretty laid back. Madison liked his smile, it was definitely contagious. He could make anyone smile easily. Unless they were just bitter people who refused to smile, but that was something else entirely. Her face immediately flushed as he called her adorable. Had he really said that? That wasn't right. Her? Adorable? No. Not right at all. Amusing, yes. Funny, sure. But adorable? No. Just... no. "You don't have to do that," Maddi said softly with a slight smile after Kyrian told her that the drinks were on the house. She could not really accept something like that, could she? It would be rude to not to, however, and that was not something she wanted. It could have been considered insulting as well, and that was definitely not something she wanted. "But, thank you." She flushed yet again when Kyrian basically called her pretty. If he kept throwing compliments out like that, Madison was sure that she would end up being permanently red. Surely he was just being nice. He was the owner of the place after all. A few well placed compliments and he could have anyone being a returning, paying customer. That was all the nice words had to be. It was just him being a good business owner. After all, everyone knew a few flirty comments could get you far. "I work in retail, so it gets especially crazy the closer to Christmas it is. Kinda sad that it's the same here, to be honest." Really, one would think that a second chance would make people kinder to one another. Obviously, that was not the case.
Madison agreed vastly with his statements about loving music and wanting a job in it. She nodded a little as she smiled in thanks at the bartender, who refilled her soda glass. "I would have loved to do something in music, maybe behind the scenes. 'Ve a bit of a stage fright thing, but never at a place like this. It's just when it's my own stuff I'm doing." Madison was not sure why she was being so honest, but she guessed it was because Kyrian did not really know her, so it was not like he could really judge her or anything. She idly stirred her ice with her straw. "I could picture in a band. 'M sure you'd be a favorite of all the ladies." Madi giggled softly with a smile at the teasing comment, though she knew there was a truth to it. Kyrian was an easily approachable, good looking man. Of course, the ladies would have fallen in love with him. Especially if he was a guitarist. There was always something about a guy with a guitar. "Maybe you should soon."
She nodded a little, absently glancing toward the stage before focusing on Kyrian once again as he suggested that she go up there. Madison worried at her lower lip. She wanted to go up there; really, she did. However, at the same time, she was worried about making a fool of herself. She loved karaoke, though. "Mmm... okay, but you should get up there tonight, too." Madison smiled at him before taking a final drink of her soda before heading up to the stage, where she picked one of her favorite songs to preform. It was inspiring, and she related to it a lot more than she let on to people. She could not keep from smiling as she sang, and once she was done, she rushed back to her seat. Her face was a bit flushed, as she took her seat and she giggled softly, ignoring the way her stomach knotted with nerves. "So... happy now?" She wrinkled her nose faintly as she laughed and smiled, flicking her hair out of her eyes before taking a drink of her soda. She was still nervous, wondering what people thought, how badly she did, how badly she looked. Oh, god, why did she do that? She never let her worry cross her face, though, continuing to smile as she tried to focus on the good parts of singing. "Your turn, Mr. Big-Shot-Owner." Her tone was light and playful, still a little bit breathless from nerves and the resonating energy after singing on stage, but for the most part completely cheerful.

"Oh I know that. But I can't help it. I'm a guy who likes to buy pretty girls drinks. And since I own the place, I can pay for all your drinks without batting an eyelash," he stated with a grin. He rather liked her. Most people would leap at the chance to have their drinks for free, even if they weren't alcoholic drinks. Her, however, seemed more concerned about him making a profit, which was not exactly something many people who weren't him thought much about at all. He smiled at her. "You're most welcome, my lady," he stated easily, smiling brightly at her. He didn't think he'd ever get tired of looking at this pretty little thing.
He nodded as she stated that she worked in retail and it got crazy over the holidays. "Oh I totally know where you're coming from on that one, Maddi. I mean... damn, sometimes after the shops close and what not, people come in here and drink it up and make fools of themselves. And on Christmas day? You have those people who don't really have family or many friends here... which is a lot... and they come in here and drink their sorrows away and then sing these really depressing kinds of songs. It's awful." Of course, he himself didn't really have anyone either so he understood the need to get out of the house that was empty and to just want to drown your sorrows away. At least when he was in the military he'd had his friends and such to spend the holidays with. Now? This bar was his family.
He looked over at her at this point, offering a smile as she stated that she herself would have loved to do something in music. "Probably would suit you. I think you'd look good up on a stage, all made out with some sparkly earplugs and a mic in your hand? Yeah... I could totally see it." He nodded matter of factly, though the thought that someone as pretty as this could actually have stage fright surprised him. "Really? Wow. I wouldn't have thought it. Most girls who look as good as you do love to be the center of attention." It was actually a bit of relief that this girl didn't think she was all that and a jar of peanut butter too. He didn't like catty girls like that, even if they were at least partially right about being super-hot.
He grinned as she stated she could see him in a band. "Yeah... I was in a band in high school. Played guitar. It was epic. But I wanted to go into the military and there ain't much place for guitars in the Marines. Kinda hard to cart it around and with my luck it'd have gotten shot or rained on and totally ruined." He wrinkled his nose slightly at the thought before he laughed as she stated that maybe he should go up on stage soon. Well maybe. He did need to get back up there just for the hell of it. He laughed as she said that she'd go if he went up there. "Deal," he stated, nodding matter-of-factly as she took another drink of her soda before going up on stage. He leaned against the bar, watching her and feeling a little sad at her song choice.
That really how she felt about herself? Well then, he'd just have to go up there and change that. As she came back, he clapped along with some other people in the bar, mostly her group of friends. "Brava! Brava!" he exclaimed, grinning at her as she came back. "Brilliant, really," he stated seriously, nodding slightly. He laughed as she asked if he was happy. "Very happy," he stated. Of course, then she was claiming that it was his turn. "Oh alright, alright," he stated as he slid off of his barstool and headed to the stage. He picked up the mic and flipped through the machine to find which song he wanted before smirking. "You'll have to forgive me, I don't have my guitar tonight, so I'm going to just turn off the words to the song and let the machine play the music for me."
When the music began, Kyrian paused slightly before beginning to sing. And as he'd promised, there was no overlay where Kyrian's voice overshadows the original singer, but it was only his voice as he sang the song. When it was over, he gave a little bow, and headed off the stage and back towards Madison, hoping that she had liked his song choice. He smirked slightly, sitting down beside of her once more. "Well?" he asked, arching an eyebrow as he watched her, waiting for her reaction.

[/style] TAGGED: kyrian WORDS: 1183 Madison laughed softly when Kyrian said that he liked to buy pretty girls drinks, though her face flushed a little and she busied herself with stirring the ice in her glass, shifting in place a bit. It was a nice thought, but she was not all that pretty. She was sure the money would be better spent elsewhere. "Well, since you're sure. I definitely can't argue you. You are the owner, after all. I'd hate to get on your bad side," she replied with a playful smile as she glanced over at him. He definitely was extremely charming. It had to be a good business help. As a cashier, she knew the importance of working with your customer. If she did not flirt with people subtly, she would not get the comments or survey results she did, which was important in her store. Of course, it was not as important as selling that stupid card, something that she was actually good at, though she had yet to figure out why.
At the mention of people being there on Christmas, Madi glanced around the bar and then back to her drink. She had always found it sad to think about people staying out at places like that on Christmas instead of with family. She had always spent Christmas with her parents and sister, even when she did not feel like she belonged there. It was a time of year she fought harder to keep a smile, even if it was completely fake. Nobody noticed, anyway. "Might just be one of those people this year. 'Ve no idea what I'm going to do around the holidays." She did not have any family there, and so far, she had not made to many actual friends. She did not like the idea of being alone on Christmas, though. Even when she was at home, she was never alone for Christmas. "I used to help my parents decorate the tree on Christmas Eve, and we'd exchange one gift before bed. Christmas Day was always filled with cooking and baking. That's not really gonna happen this year, though." Madison shook her head a little with a shrug before smiling with a soft laugh. "Guess it's time for a new tradition." She did not fully like the idea of a new tradition, but she could adapt. She was the one who was at fault for being there, anyway. She was the one who made that decision and went through with the action. Madison absently tugged on the sleeve of her sweater to hide the scars that weren't showing anyway.
She used to have a dream of performing on a stage in front of a large crowd. She could always picture herself wearing some beautiful dress, her hair and makeup done perfectly, her parents standing just off stage looking so proud of her. However, when she was unable to perform at any school talent shows because of her stage fright, she had quickly realized that it was simply that, a dream. "Looking good or not, I wouldn't be able to do it unless I only did covers of songs. I can't sing my own songs, or ones written for me," she said with a shake of her head. She could easily remember trying at the state fair a few times. One year, she did not even make it up onto the stage. The other time, she nearly passed out before one of her friends finally dragged her off. "Really? Wow. I wouldn't have thought it. Most girls who look as good as you do love to be the center of attention." Madi hummed faintly, taking a drink of her soda. Most girls that looked as "good" as her never got dates, stayed home alone while all her friends went out, and made a mistake with the first guy to give her attention. "Guess I just don't think like those other girls." Plus, there was the fact that it was kinda hard to get all big headed when your best friend and little sister are a lot more attractive than you are. She did not say that, though; because while she believed it to be true, it sounded like she was fishing for compliments, and she hated when people did that. Sometimes it was okay if it was more in a completely joking and playful manner, but just outright doing it bugged Madi like none other. That was why she tried to be conscious of what she said, to not sound like she was fishing for compliments. Plus, if she said what was on her mind half the time, people would know about her depression, and just how low she really thought of herself.
"Yeah, I could see how carting a guitar around would be bad. D'you play now that you're here?" Madison would love to actually hear him play guitar sometime. She had an easy feeling that the young man would be very good at it, even if he was a bit rusty. He just seemed the type to be a good guitarist. Plus, most bands would not keep someone who could not play, no matter how small the band was. "I was starting guitar lessons before... well, before I got here. I thought it was fun." She was not the best, but she had been learning, and pretty easily as well. She assumed it was because she had grown up with piano lessons, so it was not too much different. It was just a different style of finger placement.
When she returned to the bar after singing, she flushed a bit more than she was already at Kyrian's statements. Laughing softly with a smile, she tucked her hair back behind an ear. "Thank you," she replied with another smile. The nerves she felt were easing up a little, but for the most part were still present. She was glad for the positive response, but as in her nature, wondered if it was an honest one or one based more on strategy. Eh, she'd just go with it being an honest one. Kyrian did not seem the type to tell someone they did well if he did not think they did. She turned to face the stage as Kyrian made his way up there and smiled a little as she toyed with the ice in her glass using her straw while watching him. Madi had a smile on her face the entire time the young man sang, and when he returned, she said, "That was really good. You've got a great voice. I definitely would have listened to your band's stuff, if you ever got out there." Madison smiled as she flicked her bangs out of her eyes with a soft laugh, though she was being completely honest. She really would have listened to a band with Kyrian in it. She'd been too focused on actually listening to him sing to realize that he had actually been singing to her. It did not even cross her mind for a moment that he had been. "You should get up there more often. 'M sure everyone would agree."

This girl obviously wasn't used to getting compliments if this was how she reacted to them. "Of course I'm sure.." he waved all around the bar and tilted his head slightly. "You are the prettiest girl here, so it only makes sense that I buy your drinks for tonight. Everyone else can pay their own way..." he stated, giving her a playful wink. He laughed at the thought of her ever getting onto his bad side. "Sweetheart, I doubt you could ever get on my bad side..." She was far to charming and sweet to ever incur his wrath. Though he might have to incur his wrath on someone else because of her... but he didn't want to say that at that moment. She looked like she might not be the type to take it as a compliment that he'd knock around some heads on her behalf.
He looked up at her as she looked around the bar and then stated that she might be one of those people that year who came to the bar on Christmas because she had no idea what she was going to do around the holidays. He gave a faint nod. "It's hard. especially your first couple of years, this will be my third Christmas in New Haven... and I'm still just... not all that in to Christmas." Of course, he hadn't had a 'family' Christmas in about six years. He watched her for another moment as she stated that she used to decorate the tree with her parents on Christmas Eve and then told him about her family traditions. He felt very bad for her as she stated that she guessed she needed a new tradition. He reached out, gently touching her shoulder and offered her a small smile.
"I'll tell you what. If you don't have any kind of plans by Christmas Eve, I'll go all out. I'll get a tree and we can decorate the whole bar if you want and the tree. And then you and me can drink ourselves into oblivion with some good old-fashioned eggnog and we'll have this whole big schindig, just you and me," he stated, smiling slightly, letting his hand fall back to rest on his own leg. He offered a smile to her, tilting his head as he watched her, shaking his head slightly. "You probably could with practice, you know," he stated easily, leaning against the bar, watching her carefully. "You've got a great voice, you know... and you look great. A little practice and you might could get over the stage-fright thing."
He shrugged at the mention of him playing guitar. "I do every now and then. I have my guitar, but its back at my condo. He shrugged slightly at the thought. "I don't bring it unless I have plans to perform on the stage. I'd hate for it to get damaged or stolen or something, because its actually mine from... you know... before," he said softly. He shrugged ever-so-slightly, offering a smile to her once more. He leaned forward towards her at the mention of her playing guitar though. "Oh really? What did you play?" he asked easily. "I have a Gibson..." He nodded, smiling slightly. "Maybe I could get another guitar and you and I could play together," he stated with a grin, genuinely pleased at the idea of someone else actually enjoying guitar.
He smiled slightly at her. "I'm glad you think so. It's... been awhile since I had someone to sing to. Generally when I get up there, its just for shits and giggles," he stated easily before looking at his bartender. "Jer, get me a water, would ya? My throat's still vibrating," he stated, laughing softly before looking back at Madison. "Well that's good. I think that the band itself actually made it to a recording deal... but instead of going off with them, I went into the military right out of high school and then... well... yeah..." He gestured towards himself absently as if it were self-explanatory, which it kind of was.

[/style] TAGGED: kyrian WORDS: 0961 "Sucks for them, then," Madison replied, a flush still coloring her face as she toyed with her soda. Seriously, if the guy kept it up with the compliments, she was either going to turn permanently red, or do something stupid, like start to believe them. She turned to face him a little more and laughed softly, running a hand through her hair absentmindedly. "Maybe wait til you know me more to make that decision." Honestly, Maddi was surprised that Kyrian did not find her annoying already. Her family found her annoying most of the time. She actually would not mind hearing that Kyrian would "knock around some heads" on her behalf. It would be a rather flattering thought, even if she was more anti-violence than anything. Sometimes there was a good reason for it, and other times it was just nice to hear that someone might if it were needed. She had hit a fair few guys through the years because of how they treated her friends. Of course, her doing so did not really result in much; but, it was the thought that counted, after all.
Madison nodded a little when Kyrian explained that it was his third Christmas there, and that he still was not very into the holiday. He could see why. It was supposed to be one of good cheer, family, and friends. How did you do much for something like that when the people that should be there weren't? Maddi guessed she had her Reaper and the other charges he had, but that was nowhere near the same thing. Madison felt out of place there as it was. In what should be a close knit setting, she would probably feel even more odd. Maybe her first Christmas would be just like any other day. She might get something small for the people she shared a house with, because it was nice; but, that was likely to be the extent of it. Madison looked over to Kyrian again as he placed a hand on her shoulder, and she could not keep from smiling at his suggestion. "Yeah, okay," she replied with a nod, laughing softly. "Sounds like a lot of fun. Should probably just plan on that, then, 'cause I doubt I'll have anything else to do. Besides, it sounds like a good way to start something new. Never really done Christmas with anyone that wasn't family." Madison definitely liked the idea of getting to spend some time with Kyrian over Christmas. It was better than just avoiding the holiday all together. It was not like she had many friends to do something with, anyway.
She laughed softly, scrunching her nose up a little as she did when Kyrian stated that she might be able to do the whole singing on stage thing with practice. "'M not sure about that one," she replied with a shake of her head and a shrug. "I've tried, it's just... I dunno. I get all nervous, and then s'almost like... like I can't breathe." Panic attacks. They were panic attacks that she would get. She did not know the word for it, but they sucked. "You've got a great voice, you know... and you look great." Madison giggled softly and smiled, flicking her hair back out of her eyes. "Thanks. I think I'll stick to karaoke for now." She nodded a little, stirring her melting ice before taking another drink of her soda.
Madison nodded a little in response to Kyrian's statement about leaving his guitar at home. She honestly did not blame him at all. She probably would to, if roles were reversed. "I'd worry too much about it if I were you. S'not a good idea to cart a guitar around places," she replied with a shake of her head, glancing out over the crowd of people there. Her focus landed on Kyrian once again as he asked her about her playing guitar and she shrugged a little. "I'm not sure. It belonged to the music school I learned at. My parents wouldn't buy me my own guitar. They had to pay for my sister's volleyball and cheerleading camps." Maddi shrugged a little, toying with her straw once again. It always sucked, knowing that her sister was the one to get whatever she wanted. Madison never asked for much, but whenver she did ask, she got a half-assed explanation about her sister needing something for some sport or another. "Mmm... I'd like to finish learning. So, if you'd like to help with that, then, sure." Maddi nodded with a smile and a soft laugh, shifting a little to get more comfortable where she sat. "I can play piano, though. I've had lessons since I was in kindergarten."
She honestly was confused for a moment when Kyrian said that it had been a while since he had had someone to sing to. Did that mean that he had sang to her? Really? Why? So many questions popped into her mind all at once, but she smiled shyly instead, taking another drink of her refilled soda to distract herself before looking to Kyrian once again as he talked about his old band. She reached over to gently squeeze his arm before returning her arm to rest on her leg as she said, "Well, that's good for them. Now, you've got this place, though. It's really amazing. I honestly can't think of a better person to run it. You really should grace the stage more often. I'd definitely come to see you whenever 'm not working." Madison nodded with a smile as she brushed her hair back out of her face. She honestly would come to Dream On whenever she could if it meant getting to hear Kyrian sing again. She really enjoyed listening to him.
