Play By: zoe saldana General Overview: "i'd like to think i have sophisticated taste in fashion. being in new haven has been quite a change for me. when i was alive, i was never able to afford the sorts of clothes i'd like to wear. in fact, i wore the same two outfits pretty much everyday, and had a third outfit set aside for church. it's great to be able to walk into a wardrobe filled with clothes, mostly black, grey, and white. hey, it's pretty easy to match when you haven't got a whole lot of color variation. sometimes pops of color are fun, but i usually stick to either yellow or red. i wear a lot of dresses, heels, and cardigans. and, of course, being the manager of a victoria's secret, i dress my lingerie to its prime. when i'm not wearing dresses, i love high-waisted slacks with double-buttons. it gives the allusion of the more shapely figure i always wish i had." | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,220,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #6F68B4;] [style=padding: 10px; text-align: justify; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 11px; height: 425px; width: 220px; overflow: auto; color: #ffffff;]G E N E R A L |

General Description: daija is typically friendly, and tends to get along with most people, however her opinion is easily swayed. she often gets the wrong idea from the things people say, and jumps to conclusions before getting the whole story. she is outspoken, and frequently finds herself standing up and trying to fight for everyone, whether they want it or not. she sometimes can seem a little overly passionate, but it helps to remember that her heart is in the right place. she doesn't like to be in loud settings, around loud people, thus tends to avoid parties, and prefers to be in small groups or two or four. she is very passionate about women's rights, and will exercise her right to appear sexy for no reason whatsoever. she will lash out at anyone who criticizes her for this, as it's her body, and she can do whatever she pleases with it. she never takes it too far though, and always keeps her privates covered up.

Overview: daija had a fairly normal life, for being african american during the civil rights movement. her parents were very involved in the church, and most of her childhood was singing in the choir, going to school, and helping around the house. her parents beat her, but daija never considered it substantial. it was do as you're told, or suffer the consequences, and that just so happened to be the consequence. and so, she normally did as she was told. from a young age, daija recognized that separate but equal was bullshit, as she passed the white elementary school on her way to school everyday. it was bigger, and not in disrepair. and they had school buses.
she also learned quickly that, in the south, you shouldn't talk to the white kids. she'd almost gotten her ass handed back to her on a porcelain plate after trying to play with a white girl on the street near the market where her mother was doing her shopping. it was a much different time from what daija's life is like now in new haven, a life plagued with racism and prejudice. and daija hated it.
as soon as she was old enough, she started marching for civil rights. when brown v. board of education overturned plessy in 1954, it was a milestone, but the fight didn't end there. however, one year before the civil rights act of 1964 passed, five years before the civil rights movement died down, daija was followed to her childhood home by a group of klansmen. they tied the family down in the chairs in their home, and set fire to it. everyone died in the fire, with the exception of daija's younger sister, who now resides in a home for the elderly, and hasn't talked, heard, or seen anything since the fire.
daija woke up in new haven, and after taking some time to recover, and search all of new haven for her parents, she finally started to settle down and make a home for herself. things are radically different now, and daija is thankful for it.
